Women are diverse and unique, and they deserve a diverse and unique healthcare team that understands the importance of using obstetrics, gynecology, preventative health measures and both complementary and integrative medicine to ensure both their physical and emotional well being.
Obstetrics
Obstetrics is a medical specialty that involves caring for women as they try to conceive, during their pregnancies, while they labor and deliver their children and during their postpartum recovery period.
Obstetrician/Gynecologists are Doctors who, after completing 4 years of generalized medical training in medical school training then do an additional 4 years of specialized training in women’s health. During this training they gather expertise in the management of both low and high risk pregnancies. Together with our Certified Nurse Midwives, the Obstetricians of Women’s Healthcare Group of Illinois manage low and high risk pregnancies from conception to delivery.
Gynecology
The formal definition of “Gynecology” is the “branch of medicine that deals with diseases of, and that provides the routine physical care for, the reproductive systems of women”. However, at Women’s Healthcare Group of Illinois, Gynecology is so much more that just that. Here, we don’t just provide routine physical care for the female reproductive system. And we don’t just use a combination of traditional medical and surgical care to treat diseases of the female reproductive system. At Women’s Healthcare Group of Illinois, we also employ an integrative approach to both the prevention and the treatment of diseases unique to women and the female reproductive system, with the goal of promoting overall emotional and physical wellness among the women we care for.
Midwifery Services
A Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) is an advanced practice registered nurse with specialized training in Women’s Health. Much of the practice of midwifery is focused on caring for pregnant women throughout their pregnancies, during their labors and childbirth, and during the postpartum period that follows. Working collaboratively with our board certified Ob/Gyn doctors, our midwives are passionate about caring for you and your baby.
Complementary Medicine
At certain locations we offer Acupuncture and Traditional Herbal Medicine as a compliment to our more traditional offerings. Acupuncture is the practice of inserting very fine needles into influential points called “Meridians” that are located along energy pathways that run throughout the body.
At certain locations we also offer Swedish, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point and Prenatal massage as a compliment to our more traditional offerings. For pregnant women, prenatal massage is a fantastic way to eliminate the normal aches, pains and stresses of pregnancy. And for all people, massage therapy can be a powerful tool to help promote health and wellness.
Preventative Health
Living a long and healthy life starts with preventive healthcare. As its name implies, preventative healthcare is all about taking steps to prevent illness. But preventative healthcare doesn’t stop there. When illness is present, preventative healthcare is also all about detecting those illnesses early, oftentimes before any symptoms are even present. And once detected early, preventative healthcare involves treating those illnesses in an effective and timely manner. All helping you to both stay healthier and to live longer in the process.
On-Site Services
At Women’s Healthcare Group of Illinois and the Women’s Wellness Group, we offer the convenience of onsite lab testing, onsite ultrasound services for both pregnant and non-pregnant women and onsite medication dispensing for many of our more commonly prescribed non-narcotic medications. All of these extras allow our patients to save one of their most precious commodities, time.
